On deck or at the switchboard, our team works year round to capture the finest flavours of Nova Scotia.
‘Pete’ is a name synonymous with fine fare in Nova Scotia. His culinary explorations began as a stall owner in Nottingham, England, and led him around the world before he chose to settle in the Maritimes. Here he formed one of Atlantic Canada’s best known and loved brands: Pete’s Frootique. Countless well-fed customers later, Pete has kept close to his roots as the charming grocer and energetic personality. Always looking with an entrepreneurial eye towards new adventures, he sees the vineyard as a true calling.
When he’s not at the Vineyard, he’s travelling the world speaking to companies, associations and food & wine industries. Visit www.PeteLuckett.com
Mark Lambert, Executive Chef
A New Minas native, Mark brings true local flavour to the Luckett Vineyards kitchen. He found his way to culinary training through mentorships with the region’s top chefs, exploring innovative twists on traditional dishes, and gaining the experience to create a flavourful menu designed to showcase our wines. True to his Nova Scotian roots, his favourites go back to the basics – beef stroganoff, bacon, and anything deep fried.
Murray Corbin, Property Supervisor
Murray hails from the Annapolis Valley, and is a true renaissance man. He’s our in-house plumber, electrician, carpenter, welder, landscaper, dog treat distributer and is undeniably Nova Scotia’s most meticulous lawn mower. He’s been trying to take his well-deserved retirement since 2013 but we keep coming up with projects we’d only ever trust to him.
Mike Mainguy, Executive Winemaker
Mike is indeed our ‘Main Guy’ at the winery. His well-rounded knowledge for all things wine comes from his experience in Nova Scotia as well as in the Niagara region, an area with similar growing conditions. A Nova Scotian at heart, Mike’s been with us since we opened our doors to the public in 2011, leading production of our wide range of whites, reds, dessert and fruit wines.
Geena Luckett, General Manager
Part of the family business since the ripe old age of 10, Geena is following in her father’s footsteps at the winery. Having graduated from Dalhousie with a Bachelor of Management, and with hands-on experience working with wineries and wines shops here and abroad, she joined the Luckett team full time in 2013 as the go-to-gal for the wildly popular winery events and since is moving her way around the different departments and operations to learn the business inside out!
Gillian Whelan, Office Manager
Gill left the Valley for the bright lights of Halifax, and returned home after graduating from university. Her entrepreneurial spirit has had a chance to blossom here, after her time spent in the fast food industry learning the processes and logistics. Without Gill’s focus on keeping us organized we wouldn’t know our corks from our kettles!
Kyla White, Winemaker’s Assistant
A kinesiology student at Acadia, Kyla started working as a server at the vineyard in 2015. She’s returned to us in the seasons since, and has moved up the winery ladder to apprentice as a winemaker, assisting Mike with the many facets of production. Her (few) quiet moments are spent dreaming of her next travel destination and practicing the yoga teachings she learned as an instructor in Bali.
Marcel Kolb, Vineyard Manager
Don’t let the accent fool you – Marcel’s background in wine is as French as his prized bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Growing up in Switzerland, he learned precision techniques from the masters, and applies those specialized skills to our unique Nova Scotian terroir. Just a glance at our meticulous rows of vines is enough to see that Marcel is serious about growing grapes.
Nicole Greene, Restaurant Manager
Nicole’s love of food, wine and travel led her from the Annapolis Valley around the world before landing her back where she started – lucky for us! Her training in Business Administration helps our restaurant and human resources run tickety-boo, and her friendly disposition keeps everything copacetic when things are ringing off the hook.
Drew Jardine, Tasting Bar Manager
Drew was enrolled in NSCC’s Business Administration program in Kentville when came to us for his work placement and we keep finding reasons to hold onto him. He has since graduated and we promoted him to tasting bar manager! He is keen to jump into any project, and is often found stocking shelves, behind the cash, making signs and even the odd tank scrubbing!
The winery’s unofficial mascot, this five year old ‘SPCA special’ does double duty as greeter of guests to the vineyard and chaser of birds from the vines. You’ll find our friendly boxer mix standing watch over the offices or sniffing out crumbs on the patio at the end of a busy bistro day.
